A girl longing to belong. Faeries, magic, plotting, manipulation. If this book was anything, it was mesmerizing. Black does a wonderful job of sucking us into a magical world full of violence, politics, and prejudice. This book kept me on my toes with plot twists and the way the characters struggle with themselves and creating their world around them. I appreciate the way we can feel like we are in the mind of the main character, Jude, and her isolation within her own family and the Faerie world. This is the first book in the series and I cannot wait to begin the next book because of course this one left us on the precipice of a plan in action.
