I read this anthology as I was writing my own gothic short story with folk horror elements and I really enjoyed it. The stories are creepy, scary, and suspenseful. Many of them are going to stick with me and I’ll likely read this again next Halloween. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre but especially to those trying to write their own horror short story. If you don’t know where to start or how to finish or how to keep the story suspenseful, the stories here are great examples.
